RF |
Initial grade up animal. Only females are
eligible for this program. One parent must be a registered Brown Swiss and the
second parent can be any dairy animal. Thus, these may be crossbred animals but will
be at least 50% Brown Swiss. Please note that not all animals must start with this step, as
characteristic grade Brown Swiss may go directly into the ID step. |
ID(R) |
Will be the next step which may be either
(a) an offspring (IDR) of a RF dam and a registered Brown Swiss sire or may be (b) an
identified and inspected grade Brown Swiss (ID) (original animal) possessing typical
Brown Swiss color and characteristics. These females (b) would have either
unknown Brown Swiss parents or may have one registered parent. Only females are
eligible for this program step. |
IE |
Will be the next step which will always
have an ID or IDR dam and a registered Brown Swiss sire. Again only
females are eligible for this step. |
HR |
Will be for fully registered animals. The
dam may be either an IE or HR registry status animal. If the dam is an IE, only
female offspring may be registered and they will carry a CIE prefix. The sire will always be HR status and Brown
Swiss. |
NOTE: All registration levels now use the same registration numbering system. Animals
assinged numbers by Brown Swiss have an eight digit American ID number beginning with 68xxxxxx. Other
official AIN numbering series assigned to other breeds as well as the 840 RFID numbers are acceptable.
